Role Description

Doctoral Research Chairs/Readers are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that a Doctoral Research Chair models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engages in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Doctoral Research Chairs/Readers should view their guidance, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and, insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Guide doctoral candidates conducting research to ensure methodological soundness.
• Provide detailed feedback specific to qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
• Maintain communication with candidates to ensure compliance with school doctoral program handbook(s) and university policies.

Qualifications

• Established record of research evidenced by intellectual and professional contributions to the field through peer-reviewed publication and conference presentations.
• Experience with capstone, dissertation, or thesis mentorship.
• Experience teaching research methods using online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas).
• Ability to work at a pace that will not delay the progress of a doctoral candidate toward timely completion of the doctoral degree.
• Conferred degree in one of the following:
  • DBA or PhD in Business
  • PhD in Business Administration, Organization and Management, Organizational Behavior and Development, and Organizational Leadership
• Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University.
• Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research.

Requirements

• Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills.
• Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Canvas.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated strengths in teaching & mentoring at the college level.
