Role Description

The Director oversees the management and direction of the Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct (OAISC). The responsibilities of the Director include:

  • Supervising staff
  • Implementing systems and solutions to resolve ongoing case management issues
  • Providing consultation to academic units regarding disruptive and/or distressed students
  • Serving as the campus main point of contact for all student disciplinary issues
  • Imposing campus-wide disciplinary action for academic misconduct and student behavior, including suspension and dismissal from the university
  • Supporting campus stakeholders with crisis mitigation
  • Working closely with students in distress
  • Handling access rights to student disciplinary files in accordance with the Family Educational Right and Privacy Act
  • Ensuring campus compliance with local and federal laws such as FERPA, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Drug-Free Schools Act, and the Jeanne Clery Act
  • Assessing and analyzing student conduct trends and developing strategies to address those issues

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of advising and counseling techniques
  • Demonstrated skill in crisis management, harm reduction, conflict resolution, and conflict mediation
  • Skills in monitoring/assessing people, processes, or services to make improvements
  • Skills in project management and social perceptiveness
  • Ability in problem identification, reasoning, and developing original ideas to solve problems
  • Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization
  • Experience working effectively with diverse student populations and communities
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communications
  • Experience investigating, adjudicating, and resolving student conduct or related cases
  • Progressively responsible experience in staff supervision
  • Ability to create and maintain strong campus partnerships
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Master's degree/JD with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in student conduct or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and mandates including FERPA, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, American Disabilities Act, Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Drug-Free Schools Act, and the Jeanne Clery Act
  • Experience addressing concerns/incidents of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking
  • Skill in research, data collection, and analysis
  • Experience tracking and reporting data related to student conduct trends
  • Ability to balance the role of administrator while maintaining student rights
  • Ability to provide consultations regarding campus policies and addressing disruptive/challenging behavior
  • Experience developing proactive educational programs regarding student conduct/academic integrity
