Role Description

The Coordinator, Dual Enrollment – Middle College Programs provides a broad range of services in support of dually enrolled high school students and students enrolled in Community College of Philadelphia’s middle college programs, primarily the Parkway Center City Middle College. This position serves as the liaison between the student and his/her family, the high school and the College, while facilitating ongoing and meaningful student contact to ensure academic success within the program. The Coordinator works with relevant offices at the high school and the College and provides ongoing support for dual enrollment and middle college students in areas such as:

  • Appropriate course selection
  • High school and college credit profile reviews
  • Credential attainment (diploma, certificate, associate’s degree)

The Coordinator works under the direction of the Assistant Director, K-16 Partnerships and in close coordination with fellow Dual Enrollment staff to provide consistent program implementation, communication, and student support. The Coordinator collaborates across student cohorts and grade levels and provides support to Middle College students based on program and student needs. The Coordinator may also support other dually enrolled students and initiatives as operational needs require.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration or related field required.
  • Any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience with students at the K-12 level or college level required.
  • Knowledge of K-12 secondary school graduation requirements required.
  • Effective in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and sound decision-making skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong procedural and implementation skills required.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team required.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative required.
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.

Requirements

  • In collaboration with fellow Dual Enrollment staff, coordinate and maintain communication with College faculty and staff, and high school faculty and staff, regarding student course and program progress.
  • In collaboration with fellow Dual Enrollment staff and high school faculty and staff, coordinate the course selection, registration, and credit profile evaluation process of middle college students to ensure progress toward program completion and diploma, degree or certificate attainment.
  • Respond to issues related to student conduct in support of the School District of Philadelphia’s student code of conduct, as well as the College’s student code of conduct.
  • Partner with high school faculty and staff to create and monitor personalized academic plans for all students.
  • Conduct 1-1 meetings with dual enrollment and middle college students to review and support academic progress and plans for post-graduation and transfer.
  • Collaborate with high school faculty and staff in the planning and execution of academic and social programming during College semester ‘break’ weeks.
  • Develop plans and tools to ensure that students access and utilize all available and needed academic and social-emotional support services.
  • Facilitate/coordinate the delivery of seminars, workshops and other activities relevant to ensuring academic and student success.
  • Conduct periodic “homeroom/advisory” meetings with groups of students to monitor program attendance.
  • Collaborate with fellow Dual Enrollment staff and high school staff on the planning and execution of special program events.
  • Provide relevant information and updates to students and their families concerning student progress and activity.
  • Prepare and maintain required reports and appropriate records.
  • Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment.
  • Adhere to FERPA regulations as they pertain to maintaining the security and confidentiality of all student records.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of the School District of Philadelphia, partner high school(s), middle college program, and the Community College of Philadelphia.
  • Other duties as assigned.
