Role Description
The Coding Educator will act as a subject matter expert and liaison between the PRC Coding professionals and providers to facilitate accurate and complete coding. They will educate on the findings of coding reviews in accordance with the AMA and CMS guidelines, for effective and efficient utilization of health care services.

Develops curriculum and training handbooks.

Creates and delivers presentations to coders, auditors, physicians, and other support staff.

Integral part of revenue cycle team by providing support to the coding functions, monitoring coding quality standards, and reporting.

Works collaboratively with providers and coding staff to comply with federal/state standards and coding guidelines.

Participates in communication efforts of educational material with medical staff, corporate and operational leadership, department leadership, and coding professionals.

Plans, develops, and presents educational opportunities for workflow enhancements, clinical documentation improvement, coding and billing regulatory issues, charging processes, and other related revenue cycle trends.

Serves as a resource to providers and coders with general coding questions.

Researches coding questions using a variety of resources.

Updates providers and coders on coding changes in a timely manner.

Assists with special projects as needed.

Holds regular meetings with clients to discuss trending topics, benchmarking profiles, quality concerns, and other topics as needed.

Ensures program compliance by following AMA and CMS guidelines coding and required documentation.

Remains current with coding information to ensure accuracy of codes assigned based on documentation.

Works with associates across business functions and builds relationships with multiple teams.
Qualifications

5+ years of coding and educational experience in Professional Fee Coding or consulting setting with preference for Cardiology, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, or Ob GYN specialties.

Extensive professional fee coding knowledge.

Preferred knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing software.

Extensive inpatient and outpatient professional coding knowledge with applicable skill is strongly preferred.

Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences.

This is a remote position; however, candidates must be willing and able to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require.
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience.

Certification/s Required: Candidates must have and keep current at least one of the following professional certifications (CPC, CPMA or CCS Preferred):

Required travel 20-40% of the time via air or car.
