Role Description

The Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section, seeks to recruit part-time professors distinguished by their expertise and who play a leading role in the legal profession. To teach this course, candidates must:

  • Organisation of the judiciary and jurisdiction of the courts.
  • General theory of legal actions.
  • Procedure at trial.
  • Judgments.
  • Incidental procedures.
  • Special procedures.
  • Arbitration agreements.
  • Settlements.

Qualifications

  • Hold an LL.L. or an LL.B. (or equivalent).
  • Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du QuΓ©bec, the bar of another province, or the Chambre des notaires du QuΓ©bec.
  • Have significant and relevant professional experience in the field covered by the course and/or hold a graduate degree in that field and/or have contributed to research through academic publications demonstrating recognized expertise in that field.
  • University level teaching experience in a faculty of law is considered an asset.

Requirements

  • At its discretion, the Faculty reserves its right to select an applicant who does not fully meet the posted criteria if doing so would serve the interests of the program, the course, or the students, or for another related justification.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: Enseignement / Teaching: $239.47 (2024-2025).
  • The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
  • These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay.
  • These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.
