[Hiring] Children's Rights Advocate @The Children's Society

Role Description

To deliver independent, rights-based advocacy services for children and young people, ensuring their wishes, feelings and views are heard, understood and considered in decisions affecting their lives.

• Provide advocacy support to children and young people placed both within and outside Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East local authority areas where commissioned.

Qualifications

• Experience of working directly with children and young people.
• Experience of supporting vulnerable children and young people.
• Experience of partnership working with professionals and agencies.
• Experience of maintaining accurate records and managing a workload.

Requirements

• A proven ability to engage positively with young people and involve them in the decision-making process.
• Ability to relate to the specific needs of children and young people.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Ability to support children and young people to express their wishes, feelings and views.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise workload effectively.
• Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

Benefits

• Permanent with funding until 30th September 2027.
• 21 hours a week - days to be agreed with successful candidate.
• £26,100 per annum/£15,660 pro rata for 21 hours.
• Home based with expectation of travel across Cheshire West to provide advocacy services (mileage paid at 55p a mile).
• 36 days' annual leave [pro rata to hours worked], inclusive of flexible bank holidays, increasing with length of service.
