Role Description
Children’s Advocate provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing therapeutic environment. The program serves women, men, and children who are referred from various entities. Typically, the clients enter the program with a history of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse, mental illness, behavioral matters, and violence.
As a Behavior Support Mentor, you’ll provide client therapeutic mentoring assistance by working with the clients on various areas of needs in a remote setting. You'll serve as a positive role model and mentor for clients while providing encouragement, guidance, and resources. This position provides consistent interactive supervision of clients to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of staff and the population of clients we serve at all times. Responsibilities include:

Establishing a positive rapport and interface with parents/legal guardians, court/welfare staff, probation officers, and case workers.

Ensuring the highest standards are maintained to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.

Ensuring the program remains in compliance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications
-
Be empathetic, patient, and treat others with respect.

High School or Equivalent is required; Associates preferred; BA/BS preferred.

A combination of college studies and one year of validated experience with at-risk populations may be substituted for a four-year degree.

Be at least 18 years of age.

Have a desire to work with troubled populations in a remote setting.
Requirements
-
Minimum two years of experience working as a Peer Mentor in a behavioral health setting, or equivalent experience.

Prior experience with trauma recovery models.

Must have the ability to take session notes and collect data with 100% accuracy and productivity during the session.

Bilingual Spanish and English is welcomed.

Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.

Able to work at least 10-40 hours per week with the possibility of a varied schedule.

Must be able to provide client delivered services as described in Medicaid guidelines.

Comfortable working with diverse populations and able to practice cultural humility.

Ability to engage in ongoing learning and professional and personal development.

Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Salary - $18.00 - $20.00 part-time and can move up to $48,000 - $50K full-time
