Role Description

The ARD facilitator is responsible for the coordination, planning, and preparation of compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education Services to ensure federal and state timeline requirements are met. The ARD Facilitator may serve multiple campuses.

  • Coordinates with the Special Education teacher to assist in scheduling Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
  • Ensures that federal/state timelines are met with respect to functions of ARD Committee meetings.
  • Collaboration with evaluation team members.
  • Ensures that IEP elements are drafted prior to the ARD Committee meeting.
  • Ensures that all necessary forms associated with each ARD meeting are drafted in SameGoal.
  • Monitors/reviews ARD paperwork completed by campus personnel.
  • Ensures that all ARD paperwork is archived and/or uploaded to SameGoal within 48 hours of the meeting.
  • Works with the Special Education Teacher in maintaining data integrity regarding PEIMS reporting.
  • Provides for systematic communication among special and general education personnel.
  • Completes lists, forms, reports, and data required by the Special Education Administration.
  • Maintains communication among evaluation, service providers, and related services personnel.
  • Follows the end-of-year procedures as delegated by the immediate supervisor.
  • Ensures Special Education coordinator is informed of any potential campus-specific concerns.
  • Holds staffing with teachers and administrators prior to ARD meetings as appropriate.
  • Reviews all documents before archiving and distribution to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Maintains thorough documentation regarding any disagreements in ARD Committee meetings.
  • Attends Special Education Department staff meetings as requested.
  • Attends relevant professional development.
  • Dependable performance, including travel as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and Special Education certification.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal and state laws, as well as local policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of instructional materials, technology, and state evaluation.
  • Skilled in communicating effectively with parents, teachers, campus administrators, and administrative personnel.
  • Skilled in working with computer platforms, including but not limited to Google apps, SameGoal, Word documents, and spreadsheets.
  • Skilled in working in collaborative team-based environments.
  • Skilled in working with and presenting to diverse populations of students, parents, and others.
  • Exercise good judgment in decision-making, especially in difficult circumstances.
  • Skilled in human relationships, conflict resolution strategies, and team building methods & techniques.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in special education.
  • Prefer experience in an at-risk setting.
  • Prefer experience with computer-based documentation systems.
