Role Description

We are seeking experts to undertake assessments of the quality of end-point assessments (EPAs) of apprenticeships to ensure they are valid, reliable and effective, and show that an apprentice has achieved occupational competence.

• Particularly interested in applicants with academic expertise and experience in the design and delivery of assessment.
• Direct experience of apprenticeships and assessing occupational competence is essential.
• Experience in overseeing quality assurance of Levels 6 and 7 integrated degree apprenticeships is welcomed.
• Encouraging applications for all apprenticeship standards.
• Welcome applications from those with experience in a quality role in apprenticeships.

Qualifications

• Experience of designing and delivering learning, teaching, and assessment in integrated higher and degree apprenticeships.
• Practitioner in EPA for your specialism with experience in evaluating quality.
• Ability to draw upon subject expertise and experience of assessing occupational competence of apprentices.
• Well-organized with good communication skills and excellent written English.

Requirements

• Employed by a higher education or further education provider as academic staff, qualified to at least level six, or have recently been employed as such.
• Ability to contribute to designing the scope of the OfS assessment.
• Identify questions and lines of enquiry to ensure EPAs are delivered appropriately and consistently.
• Seek to secure evidence and insights to address risk and ensure EPAs are valid and reliable measures of occupational competence.

Benefits

• Flat fee of £300 per day for each assessment undertaken in 2027-28.
• Each assessment will require approximately three and a half days across a period of ten weeks.
• Time commitment may include training and some overnight travel to visit a provider's premises.
• Paid for training activities.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online assessment centre in November 2026.
• If not appointed, your application may be retained for future consideration.
