Role Description

The role of a Virtual Instruction Teacher at Suwannee Virtual School involves creating an educational atmosphere that fosters intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth in students. The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons that meet diverse student needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Certified by the State of Florida in Spanish.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.

Requirements

  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
  • Knowledge of child development and characteristics of children in the assigned age group.
  • Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum and current educational research.
  • Basic understanding of current technology and learning styles.
  • Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
  • Ability to plan and implement activities effectively.
  • Ability to assess student achievement and analyze test results.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and administrators.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Planning/Preparation:
    • Establish long and short range plans based on student needs and curriculum requirements.
    • Select, develop, or modify instructional materials to enhance learning.
    • Plan and prepare clear, compelling, and engaging work for students.
    • Plan lessons linked to the school improvement plan and District mission.
    • Prepare instructional strategies for meaningful learning experiences.
    • Assist in preparing for changing curriculum needs.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment.
    • Manage time and materials effectively.
    • Instruct and supervise volunteers and aides.
    • Establish effective record-keeping procedures.
    • Use appropriate behavior management techniques.
    • Assist in enforcing school rules and policies.
  • Assessment/Evaluation:
    • Develop and use assessment strategies for continuous learner development.
    • Interpret and use data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
    • Maintain specific records of data collection.
  • Intervention/Direct Services:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum content.
    • Apply effective teaching principles in instructional delivery.
    • Use a variety of instructional strategies for diverse learning needs.
    • Provide quality work focused on meaningful learning experiences.
    • Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate actions.
  • Technology:
    • Use appropriate technology in instructional delivery and administrative tasks.
    • Facilitate student access to electronic resources.
  • Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with professionals, students, and parents.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to meet student standards.
  • Staff Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development.
    • Participate in District-sponsored staff development programs.
  • Professional Responsibilities:
    • Act professionally and ethically at all times.
    • Support school improvement activities and contribute to the school mission.
    • Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Student Growth and Achievement:
    • Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement.
    • Establish collaborative relationships with students' families.
