Role Description
The Jefferson County Virtual Academy (JCVA) adjunct staff member will facilitate student learning utilizing JCVAโs digital platform, district curriculum, and supplemental material in a fully online setting. Adjunct staff members are expected to be excellent communicators to ensure parents and students understand student learning progressions throughout the semester. JCVA teachers are expected to complete these tasks outside of their regularly contracted hours.
Qualifications

Valid Tennessee teacherโs license with endorsement to teach 6-12 English in Tennessee.

Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Advanced understanding of and skill with computer technology.

Meets health and physical requirements.
Requirements

Reviews modular lessons and/or prepares lesson plans for course(s) of study taught.

Aligns course(s) curriculum(s) taught with state curriculum standards.

Uses a variety of teaching strategies to personalize and/or differentiate student instruction.

Prepares, administers, and records student assessments for subjects taught.

Assigns lessons routinely and grades student work in a timely manner.

Maintains order in the online classroom, breakout rooms, and during all in-person visits of students.

Collaborates with other professionals to provide support and/or interventions for specific students.

Communicates with parents and students consistently via verbal and email format.

Schedules parent conferences as directed by the system and as individually needed.

Keeps accurate attendance and academic performance records for assigned students.

Reports to proper authorities and principal when knowledgeable or suspicious that a studentโs health or welfare has been or appears to be at risk.

Represents JCVA and the JCS system in a positive manner within the community.

Participates in monthly Team faculty meetings, modular platform training/updates, new teacher orientation, and other workshops for teacher training specific to online facilitators.

Assists in upholding JCS board policies, JCVA online school rules, and administrative regulations.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Compensation based on course enrollment.

All JCVA stipends are paid at the end of the school year.

Student counts are collected the first week of September for semester one, and the second full week for semester two and the last week of the scheduled class.

Compensation for instruction is based on the number of student enrollments.
Company Description
Jefferson County Virtual Academy (JCVA) adjunct members will not be allowed to teach more than 3 virtual courses during a semester. The only exception to this rule will be related arts classes including Art, Music, and Physical Education.
