Role Description

Prowess Consulting is looking for an enthusiastic junior System Administrator/Test Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have skills in a variety of technologies including storage, compute, and networking. Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively to resolve issues.

This is a full-time role with Prowess Consulting. This role can be worked remotely; however, collaboration with teammates centered in the Pacific time zone will be essential.

The role includes:

• Researching, testing, development, and writing in support of benchmarking and testing
• Running publicly available hardware benchmarks and tracking results
• Running provided Python/PowerShell/Bash/Shell scripts or interactive steps to stress test server infrastructure hardware

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or related field required
• 2+ years of working knowledge with scripting languages such as Python and Batch/Shell scripts
• Ability to take clear notes and write concise technical documentation
• Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing
• Must be able to work Pacific Time Zone

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in a Windows environment (nice to have)
• 2+ years' experience with Linux Administration (nice to have)
• 1+ year experience in configuring enterprise storage (nice to have)
• 1+ year consumer hardware benchmarking and testing (nice to have)
• 2+ years with building sandbox and lab environments (nice to have)
• Ability to conduct research to learn and understand new technologies (nice to have)
• Additional experience in the following areas (nice to have):
• Kubernetes
• AI/ML workloads
• Microsoft SQL Server
• MySQL
• Virtualization such as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV
• Nginx
• Redis

Benefits

• The offered base pay range for this specific position is $75,000 - 100,000 per year, DOE
• Pay ranges are different for different work locations within the U.S., allowing for competitive pay and consistency in different states
