Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive System Administrator (SME) to join our team in Clarksburg, WV (Remote). The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues, requiring detailed analysis and creative solutions to ensure minimal downtime and operational efficiency.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of new system architectures, including server configurations, network topology, and data storage solutions.
- Monitoring system performance metrics and identifying bottlenecks, implementing optimizations to enhance system efficiency and maximize uptime.
- Implementing and managing robust security measures, including user access controls, patch management, and staying updated on emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Forecasting future system needs based on organizational growth and technological trends, planning for necessary hardware upgrades or infrastructure scaling.
- Providing technical guidance, mentorship, and training to other system administrators on best practices, new technologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintaining, configuring, and managing both on-premise and cloud-based systems to ensure the security and stability of the environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience with enterprise network administration tools, with a strong background in system administration.
- Expertise in Linux operating systems, including system configuration, shell scripting, and package management.
- Advanced experience in managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and related technologies.
- Deep understanding of AWS and Azure cloud platforms, including cloud security best practices and resource management.
- Extensive knowledge of network infrastructure, routing protocols, firewalls, and network security protocols.
- Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience with additional cloud platforms or infrastructure as code tools.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar are a plus.
- Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) for system configuration and management.
