Role Description

The WEX Summer Internship Program: Learn, Lead, and Make an Impact

• 13-week paid internship program, running from late May to mid-August.
• Gain real-world experience and develop your skills.

About the Team/Role:

• Looking for an enthusiastic and curious Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Intern.
• Support the team in building foundational reliability practices.
• Work alongside experienced engineers to develop automation tools and improve system observability.
• Gain exposure to incident management and learn to build resilient, scalable systems.
• Operate with an agile mindset in a collaborative environment.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Assist in monitoring system reliability and performance alongside senior engineers.
• Shadow team members during incident response, triage, and root cause analysis.
• Write basic automation scripts to help reduce routine operational tasks.
• Learn and apply best practices in system design, maintenance, and change management.
• Follow established processes for testing and service deployment.
• Participate in team learning activities and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of Linux/Unix administration, networking, and system troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Requirements

• Basic experience in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI).
• Awareness of cloud computing concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Good understanding of version control systems (Git).
• Familiarity with developing AI-based solutions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
