Role Description
As a Platform Engineer Lead II, you lead the evolution of our internal developer platform with a strong focus on Developer Experience (DevEx). You operate at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and software engineering, building scalable platform capabilities that reduce friction and accelerate engineering velocity across the organization.
-
Treat the internal platform as a product, designing self-service tooling, standardized workflows, and reusable infrastructure patterns.
-
Partner closely with Software Engineering, Infrastructure, and Security to ensure that development environments, CI/CD systems, runtime platforms, and cloud abstractions are intuitive, automated, and resilient.
-
Bring systems-level thinking and a deep understanding of modern cloud-native development practices.
-
Directly improve deployment confidence, reduce cognitive load for engineers, and strengthen operational maturity across the company.
In your day to day, you will:
-
Architect and evolve an internal developer platform that standardizes workflows, infrastructure patterns, and deployment processes.
-
Build self-service capabilities that enable engineers to provision infrastructure, deploy services, and manage environments with minimal friction.
-
Design and improve CI/CD systems to increase reliability, reduce cycle time, and enhance deployment confidence.
-
Create reusable infrastructure modules and platform abstractions that reduce duplication and improve consistency across teams.
-
Define and track developer productivity metrics, identifying opportunities to reduce bottlenecks and operational toil.
-
Partner with Infrastructure and Security teams to embed secure-by-default patterns and Identity and Access Management (IAM) best practices into platform tooling.
-
Improve local development environments and testing workflows to streamline onboarding and day-to-day engineering tasks.
-
Strengthen observability and feedback loops to give engineers actionable insight into system health and performance.
-
Lead cross-functional platform initiatives that improve engineering velocity and system reliability.
-
Mentor engineers and influence best practices across the organization through technical leadership and documentation.
Qualifications
-
8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Software Engineering.
-
Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
-
Strong experience building and operating systems in cloud environments (i.e., AWS).
-
Deep familiarity with CI/CD systems, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
-
Experience building internal developer tooling, self-service infrastructure, or platform abstractions.
-
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (i.e., Terraform) and automation frameworks.
-
Strong understanding of distributed systems, observability, and operational reliability.
-
Experience integrating security and IAM considerations into platform design.
-
Proven experience driving team efficiency or output quality through the strategic use of AI tools and automation.
-
Demonstrated ability to influence architectural decisions across multiple teams without direct authority.
Requirements
-
Product mindset applied to internal platform capabilities.
-
Passion for reducing cognitive load and improving developer happiness.
-
Strong systems-thinking and ability to simplify complex workflows.
-
Ability to influence senior engineers and engineering leaders.
-
