Role Description
The DevOps Engineer serves as the critical bridge between software development and operations, driving the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure production services across the enterprise. By integrating continuous delivery practices with robust infrastructure automation, the engineer accelerates feature rollout while maintaining stringent uptime and compliance standards. This position operates within a cross‑functional team, collaborating closely with developers, quality‑assurance engineers, security specialists, and product owners to align technical execution with broader business objectives. This role supports engineering leadership in driving appropriate change control, designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and providing technical support for daily platform operations including the specification, deployment, and qualification of infrastructure systems.
Essential Functions

Architect and implement fully automated, reproducible environments using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, maintaining version‑controlled infrastructure definitions.

Build, tune, and maintain end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines that integrate source‑control triggers, automated testing, container registries, and release‑gate policies to accelerate reliable code delivery.

Build, manage, and optimize Kubernetes cluster workloads, including deployment, networking, storage, Helm chart management, and resource governance.

Harden container images and enforce least-privilege principles; implement and maintain Kubernetes RBAC and network policies in alignment with security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, SOC 2, ISO 27001).

Design and operate observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack), establishing dashboards, alerts, and incident‑management processes to ensure rapid remediation.

Embed shift‑left security testing, secret‑management, and role‑based access controls, and run automated vulnerability scans to meet standards.

Set up and maintain observability stacks including logging metrics and distributed tracing.

Embed security best practices into the development lifecycle and (DevSecOps).

Collaborate with developers, QA, product owners, and security teams; produce up‑to‑date documentation and lead knowledge‑sharing activities to promote best practices and cross‑team agility.

Document infrastructure, architecture, runbooks and operational procedures.

Create, edit and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process improvements, and standardization of templates.

Perform ad-hoc and cross-functional duties and/or projects as assigned to support business needs and provide developmental opportunities.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience is required.

3+ years of experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering or infrastructure engineering is required.

Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD) is required.

Experience working with a Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology organization is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, etc.).

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.

Demonstrated ability to implement security best practices including image hardening, RBAC, network policies, and vulnerability scanning integration.

Strong knowledge and proficiency in Linux systems, Git, and container registry management.

Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform or Ansible preferred).

Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.

Deep technical knowledge and hands-on proficiency with container orchestration (Kubernetes), including deployment, networking, storage, and Helm.

Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Ability to work cross-functionally on teams.

Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
Working Environment / Physical Environment

This position works in El Segundo, CA or remotely depending on the candidate’s geographic location.

Regular work schedule is Monday – Friday, within standard business hours. Flexibility is available with manager approval.

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.

Compensation
-
National Market (all markets unless identified as Premium): $130,500 (entry-level qualifications) to $145,000 (highly experienced) annually.

Premium Market (Premium markets include Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, & Boston): $135,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $150,000 (highly experienced) annually.
