Role Description

The Automation & Tooling Engineer will improve the speed, consistency, and scalability of vulnerability operations through orchestration, integration, and reporting automation. The role will build and maintain AWX and Ansible workflows, pipelines, APIs, data-processing logic, notifications, dashboards, and approved auto-remediation use cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain AWX and Ansible automation for vulnerability remediation, patching, configuration correction, validation, evidence capture, and operational reporting.
• Build secure integrations among vulnerability scanners, cloud security platforms, ITSM or ticketing tools, CMDB, asset inventories, orchestration platforms, pipelines, and analytics solutions.
• Create reusable automation modules and pipelines that standardize remediation across Windows, Linux, AWS, EKS, AMIs, containers, and other approved technology platforms.
• Implement controlled auto-remediation for repeatable, low-risk scenarios with appropriate approvals, logging, rollback, exception handling, segregation of duties, and post-change validation.
• Automate data ingestion, deduplication, enrichment, ownership mapping, ticket creation, SLA calculations, notifications, rescans, closure evidence, and KPI dashboard refreshes.
• Monitor automation health and performance, troubleshoot failed jobs and integration issues, maintain source control and documentation, and ensure secrets and service accounts are securely managed.
• Partner with engineering and governance teams to prioritize the automation backlog, quantify manual-effort reduction, and continuously improve remediation cycle time and data quality.

Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise in AWX, Ansible, scripting, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and structured data processing.
• Experience integrating security scanners, ITSM, CMDB, cloud services, and reporting platforms.
• Knowledge of secure automation design, credential handling, approvals, audit trails, rollback, and error management.
• Ability to translate manual operational processes into maintainable and reusable automation.
• Strong testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Success Measures

Successful performance will be evaluated through timely risk reduction, SLA adherence, accuracy of records and reporting, quality of stakeholder coordination, audit readiness, and measurable improvement in remediation efficiency and control effectiveness.
