[Hiring] Technical Research Assistant @University of Virginia

Role Description

Darden is hiring research assistants for the academic year who will report directly to Darden faculty or the Office of Research Services. This posting is for multiple positions. Work may include cleaning and parsing data, web scraping, LLM, and data documentation. Potential topics include marketing, the economy, leadership characteristics, entrepreneurship, and other topics relevant to faculty research initiatives.

• Create data sets by researching publicly available information on companies or cities
• Assist with preparation and storage of large datasets
• Provide documentation on created datasets
• Pull data from reports, the web, and other sources
• Depending on position, work could include working with virtual machines and cloud platforms
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• UVA undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply
• Position is open to students in computer science, data science, business, accounting, economics, social sciences, humanities, statistics, math, or other disciplines with strong programming and computational skills

Benefits

• Hourly pay rate depends on level of education:
• 4-year degree: $16.00/hour
• MA/MS Degree: $22.00/hour
• Ph.D. Degree: $25/hour
• Positions offer 8-20 hours/week
• Position is remote, but student must physically reside in the United States
