[Hiring] Senior Operations Research/Data Scientist @KBR, Inc.

Role Description

The successful candidate will be part of the KBR team supporting the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) Big Data (BD) and Knowledge Management (KM) Team working on BD and KM systems supporting DoD Test Ranges and various acquisition programs.

• Data Driven Analysis: Support customers with insights gained from analyzing DoD Test & Evaluation data. Enable the development of data-driven decision analysis products through innovative application of data science, machine learning, and operations research.
• Data Mining: Strong experience using various data mining and analysis methods, developing models using statistical and machine learning approaches, and implementing analysis workflows in Python or R.
• Analytic Experience: Provide analytic consulting services, support analytic workflow and product development, and promote user adoption of data science methods.
• Customer-Facing Experience: Ensure stakeholders have the analytical tools, data products, and reports needed for insightful recommendations.
• Stakeholder Assistance: Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify analytic requirements and questions.
• Communication: Drive decisions through successful communication of data-based insights, effectively at both programmatic and technical levels.
• Technical Support: Extensive technical expertise in operations research methods and experience with DoD problems, including running and operating CHEETAS and other tools.
• Independent Work: Self-motivated and capable of working independently with little supervision.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• An advanced degree in operations research, engineering, applied math, statistics, computer science, or information technology with preferred 12+ years of experience within DoD.
• 5-10 years of DoD experience considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Experience working with end users, gathering requirements, and refining data analysis tools.

Requirements

• Experience using scripting languages (Python and R) to process, analyze, and visualize data.
• Experience using notebooks (Jupyter Notebooks and RMarkdown) for reproducible products.
• Experience using interactive visualization tools (RShiny, pyShiny, Dash).
• Experience generating and presenting reports and findings to customers.
• Experience with supervised and unsupervised methods for time series and geospatial data.
• Experience working with Windows, Linux, and containers.
• Experience querying databases using SQL.
• Ability to make insightful recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Ability to document and repeat procedures.
• Ability to train novice end users on tool usage.

Benefits

• Basic Compensation: $190,000 - $220,000 (For California Only)
