Role Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data & Information Governance Specialist to support an international organisation in strengthening and operationalising its enterprise Data and Information Governance capability.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience across:

• Data and Information Governance
• Information protection
• Data quality
• Records and content governance
• Data classification and retention
• Data ownership/stewardship
• Change management

Experience operationalising governance frameworks across both structured data and unstructured information is particularly important.

The role will also require a practical understanding of how AI can support Data and Information Governance, including:

• Classification
• Metadata enrichment
• Information discovery
• Quality monitoring
• Risk identification
• Workflow automation

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience designing, implementing and operationalising enterprise Data and Information Governance frameworks.
• Strong experience in Data Governance and Information Governance, covering both structured and unstructured information.
• Practical experience in information protection, data classification, retention, access and data/information sharing.
• Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, data catalogues, ownership and stewardship.
• Experience with records and content governance, including documents, emails and collaboration platforms.
• Practical understanding of AI applications in Data and Information Governance.
• Proven change management and governance adoption experience within complex organisations.
• Experience developing governance policies, SOPs, RACI matrices, lifecycle processes and operating models.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior, technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, including strong Microsoft PowerPoint capability.

Requirements

• Implement and operationalise Data and Information Governance frameworks, policies and processes.
• Support governance forums, working groups, reporting and action tracking.
• Translate governance requirements into practical roles, processes, SOPs and RACI frameworks.
• Define and operationalise data ownership, information ownership and stewardship.
• Strengthen data quality, metadata, data catalogue, classification, retention, access and information protection practices.
• Extend governance across unstructured information, including documents, records, emails, collaboration platforms and knowledge assets.
• Work with Legal, Information Security, IT and business teams to ensure effective governance and information protection.
• Drive change management, adoption, training and awareness across technical and non-technical teams.
• Prepare executive presentations, governance reports and stakeholder communications.
• Identify practical AI-enabled governance opportunities, including automated classification, metadata enrichment, information discovery, quality monitoring, risk identification and workflow automation.
• Ensure appropriate human oversight, accountability and responsible AI use in governance activities.
• Identify blockers, recommend pragmatic solutions and independently drive initiatives through to completion.
