Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our client's enterprise data engineering team. This is a fully remote, contract-to-hire opportunity for a highly skilled professional with a strong background in data engineering, ETL development, SQL, data warehousing, and cloud-based data solutions.

The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data infrastructure and pipelines that support enterprise analytics, business intelligence, and critical business operations. The ideal candidate is a technically strong, solution-oriented engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of complex data initiatives, and brings experience building reliable, high-performance data solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern data technologies, contribute to enterprise-level data initiatives, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, ETL development, or data management.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL and relational or NoSQL database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• 5+ years of experience with data warehousing concepts and platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing scalable, highly available systems using algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and data transformation processes.
• Solid understanding of database design, data modeling, and data integration principles.
• Experience troubleshooting complex data processing and performance issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with data pipeline orchestration and workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, or Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP, and their associated data services.
• Experience designing enterprise data architectures and evaluating technical trade-offs for scalability and long-term performance.
• Previous experience developing data engineering solutions within the healthcare or health insurance industry.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, data security, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience developing fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable production data solutions.
• Experience translating business requirements, prototypes, and user stories into detailed technical designs.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
