Role Description

UPMC is hiring a Senior BI Developer to join the Epic Healthy Planet Team!

Work Location: This is a remote position with workspace available in Quantum One Building (Pittsburgh, Pa) when needed.

The Epic Healthy Planet Team is responsible for supporting UPMC Quality Initiatives, including:

  • Changes to regulatory specifications
  • Vendor upgrades related to these specifications
  • Rollout of tools to stakeholders to track and submit data
  • Support for larger projects related to CMS, MIPS reporting, HEDIS, UDS, and other Quality and Regulatory healthcare initiatives
  • Assistance with Healthy Planet build including Value Based Analytics, Compass Rose, and Health Maintenance

Responsibilities include:

  • System Integration: Coordination of tasks and resources related to system integration, validation of testing, and implementation.
  • SDLC (System Development Life Cycle): Proficient understanding of multiple system/application development life cycles.
  • Data Quality: Maintain data quality at all times.
  • Application Upgrades and Implementation:
    • Identify new functionality and/or software requirements
    • Create test plans and review functionality
    • Report problems and manage cutover plans
    • Evaluate impact and coordinate efforts across multiple platforms
  • Interactions with Others: Complete projects by embracing a team-first approach and mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Communication: Demonstrate clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications.
  • Data Confidentiality/Security: Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of projects, distribute tasks, and update project management tools.
  • Vendor Relationships: Interact with vendors independently and act as the point person for issue escalation.
  • End-User Training: Create training content and facilitate user training sessions.
  • Documentation: Complete detail-oriented documentation for processes and extract customer/business requirements.
  • Second and Third Level Support: Independently triage and resolve Level 2 and Level 3 support issues.
  • Process Improvement: Manage process improvement efforts and recognize opportunities for improvements.
  • Self-Development: Engage in continuous self-study and seek feedback for development.

Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, HIM, analytics, statistics, or relevant coursework, or 4 years equivalent BI work experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data management best practices.
  • Ability to plan and manage simultaneous tasks and projects.
  • High degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Experience working with minimal direction and leveraging business sense for decision making.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Preferred knowledge of clinical workflow in hospital, ambulatory, and post-acute environments.
  • Healthcare analytic experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of healthcare quality programs such as CMS, MIPS, ACO, PCMH, HEDIS, UDS.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows.
  • Ability to project manage across multiple teams.
  • Epic Certification in an area such as Ambulatory or Healthy Planet preferred and 5+ years of Epic build experience.
