[Hiring] Internship – Actuarial or Data Science or Product Services @Crum & Forster

Role Description

The Commercial Lines Division is looking for interns to join us for summer 2027 and work on a handful of projects. These vary based on the teams with a focus on:

• Actuarial: Rating and pricing enhancements and analytics – Focused on the nuances of insurance pricing ranging, especially those large accounts which are individually priced.
• Data Science: Predictive analytics – Focused on pricing models to assist in pricing small to medium sized accounts as well as predictive models supporting a wide range of core capabilities, like claim analytics.
• Product Services: Automation of the Insurance Filings Process and AI – Focused on the complexities of the insurance filing process and how those vary across jurisdictions and lines of business.

All roles have a wide breadth of lines of business that can be involved from Commercial Lines (Auto, General Liability, Property, Umbrella and Workers’ Compensation) to Financial Lines (Cyber, Professional Liability, Management Liability).

What you will do:

• Work on 2-3 projects related to the above focuses.
• Develop, maintain, review, update, and enhance existing processes and tools.
• Partner with tenured actuaries, data scientists, and product specialists and learn about the nuances of insurance.
• Support initiatives that drive efficiency, accuracy, and innovation across a broad range of Commercial Lines functions.

Qualifications

• Relevant coursework/exams in actuarial science or data science a plus.
• Data Science: R or Python coding experience (stats and web development packages an added plus).
• Actuarial and Product: Excel or R experience required.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
• An ability to manage time and work effectively independently.
