Role Description

The Head of Data Quality Systems will lead the team responsible for maintaining high data quality standards across all programs. This role involves overall system design, technical strategy, and team growth, utilizing AI models for automation.

• Setting the data quality standard for farmer registries.
• Designing data quality architecture, including validation rules and anomaly detection.
• Building the matching layer for linking records to national ID and government databases.
• Designing the verification system for back-checks and audits.
• Collaborating with the product team to integrate quality rules into the collection app.
• Working with Field Operations on enumerator training and payment processes.
• Ensuring the system is reusable for new registry launches.
• Presenting data quality to government clients and leading senior-level conversations.
• Ensuring compliance with data protection laws in each country.
• Hiring and leading a team of analysts and engineers for daily checks and audits.

Qualifications

• 8 or more years in data quality, data engineering, or survey operations, with at least 4 years in leadership roles.
• Experience designing and building data quality systems at scale.
• Experience with national-scale field collection, such as a census or national survey.
• Experience leading a team that conducts quality checks and audits.
• Strong SQL and Python or R skills.
• Understanding of mobile collection tools and their impact on data quality.
• Clear English communication skills, with the ability to explain data to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• French language skills are a strong advantage.
• Experience with digital public infrastructure or donor-funded registries.
• Experience with geospatial data, such as GPS points and farm boundaries.
• Experience with agriculture or smallholder farmer programs in Africa.
