Role Description

We are seeking a skilled Fabric Data Engineer - Data Security & Dev Ops Focus candidate with strong expertise in data security, DevOps practices, and Microsoft Fabric to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly automated data pipelines and infrastructure. In this role, you will leverage Microsoft Fabric’s unified analytics platform to ensure that data is collected, processed, stored, and accessed securely while applying modern DevOps principles for reliability, observability, and continuous delivery. You will partner closely with security, compliance, platform, data science, and engineering teams to embed security and operational excellence throughout the data lifecycle.

This position is US remote telework and US Citizenship is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize secure ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows using Microsoft Fabric and complementary modern tools.
• Build and maintain Lakehouses, warehouses, and data platforms in Microsoft Fabric with a strong emphasis on security.
• Implement and enforce data security controls including encryption, tokenization, masking, and fine-grained access management.
• Integrate security and compliance requirements into Microsoft Fabric architectures and pipelines.
• Apply DevOps practices to data infrastructure, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
• Containerize supporting data applications and services and manage infrastructure using various tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability for Fabric pipelines and related platforms.
• Automate security testing, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks within CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor data pipelines for anomalies and collaborate with security teams on incident response.
• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks with security and operational controls.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Document architectures, security controls, runbooks, and operational processes.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (Python preferred).
• Familiarity with data governance, privacy regulations, and compliance frameworks.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer building production data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or closely related Microsoft analytics services.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, especially Azure, and their security services.
• Demonstrated experience implementing data security measures.
• Solid DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools in production environments.
• US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Spark (PySpark) is highly desirable.
• Direct production experience with Microsoft Fabric workspaces and Real-Time Analytics.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or managed container services.
• Experience with modern data stack tools that support security and automation features.
• Knowledge of zero-trust architecture principles and GitOps practices.
• Experience with real-time streaming security considerations and secure API design.
• Prior work in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government, etc.).

Compensation Details

S110k - $130k. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors.
