Role Description

We are looking for a Director, Data Technology to serve as the strategic and technical anchor for the data and measurement ecosystem behind our client work. This is a builder's leadership role, and you are equal parts data engineering leader and marketing technology expert.

  • Understand how modern data platforms are architected, governed, and scaled.
  • Fluent in marketing technology and measurement strategy.
  • Own the full signal-to-insight lifecycle, from data capture and collection to reporting and analytical experiences.
  • Define the strategic direction for data and measurement capabilities while guiding architecture and driving delivery.

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years in data engineering, analytics, or marketing technology, including senior leadership of technical work and teams.
  • A track record as both strategist and practitioner who stays hands-on.
  • Deep, hands-on experience across Snowflake and BigQuery.
  • Demonstrated Looker / LookML expertise.
  • Strong Python skills, with proven ETL/ELT design and hands-on experience across AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Subject-matter-level command of the marketing data stack.
  • Working command of privacy and consent regulation (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR).
  • Strong communication skills across executive, client, and engineering audiences.
  • Agency experience supporting a major global brand is a plus.
  • Hands-on familiarity with tools like Matillion, dbt, Fivetran, or Airflow is a plus.
  • Experience with server-side GTM, identity/clean-room work, or mobile measurement is a plus.

Requirements

  • Own the multi-quarter data technology roadmap across both BI and MarTech.
  • Act as the senior technical voice in the relationship.
  • Serve as the final word on architecture decisions and data-quality calls.
  • Architect the BI stack end to end, covering ingestion, transformation, modeling, and activation.
  • Write the Python, design the models, and review the team's code.
  • Own Looker / LookML as the governed semantic layer and primary visualization surface.
  • Set the practices that keep a warehouse sound.
  • Be the technical authority on the marketing data stack.
  • Command the major media platforms and their supporting technology.
  • Set the strategy for modern signal capture.
  • Own the compliance posture for data tracking.
  • Set the technical standard and elevate the specialists around you.
  • Represent the practice's data capability to senior client stakeholders.
  • Serve as the definitive internal and external escalation point for technical challenges.
