[Hiring] Data Scientist @Penguin Ai

Today - Penguin Ai is hiring a remote Data Scientist. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

You are the hands-on Data Scientist who will turn messy, real-world healthcare data into models and insights, working side-by-side with our Clinical team to make sure the numbers reflect how medicine actually works. This isn't a solo architect role - you'll learn from senior data scientists and clinicians while owning meaningful pieces of the analysis yourself. Your quest: leveraging solid skills in statistics, machine learning, and experimentation to turn data into impact.

You'll help frame the problems, build the models, and translate numbers into a story clinicians and stakeholders can act on, ensuring every result is sound, reproducible, and clinically grounded. If you thrive on finding signal in the noise and love learning from the people closest to patient care, then prepare for your next great adventure!

Your Day-to-Day Superpowers: What You’ll Actually Do

  • Your Data Science Superpowers (Modelling & Analysis):
    • Hands-On Modeler: Build predictive and statistical models on real-world healthcare data, with guidance from senior data scientists and clinical input.
    • Solution Contributor: Help craft robust, production-ready models and pipelines that meet business and clinical objectives.
    • Experimentation Partner: Support the design and analysis of A/B tests and studies, validating results against clinical reality.
    • Insight Builder: Apply best practices for feature engineering, model selection, and validation to make our analyses shine.
  • Your Model Crafting Mastery (Development & Tuning):
    • Algorithm Crafter: Build and tune models (regression, gradient boosting, deep learning, NLP) for specific, high-impact clinical and business use cases.
    • Pipeline Builder: Help design and implement reproducible data and training pipelines plus evaluation frameworks to ensure model quality.
    • Performance Tuner: Improve model accuracy, robustness, and cost so our analytics run reliably in production.
    • Curious Learner: Stay current with modelling techniques and statistical methods, and grow your craft with the team.
  • Your Data & Clinical Collaboration (Data, Workflows & Productionisation):
    • Data Wrangler: Acquire, clean, and transform large, messy clinical and claims datasets using SQL and modern data tooling.
    • Clinical Collaborator: Partner closely with our Clinical team and clinical SMEs to understand workflows, define labels, and validate that models make clinical sense.
    • Productioniser: Help package models and analyses into reliable services and dashboards that power real clinical and operational decisions.
    • Reliability Helper: Support the accuracy, security, and reproducibility of our models and analyses in production.
  • Your Communication & Teamwork Prowess (Collaboration & Storytelling):
    • Requirements Translator: Work with stakeholders and clinicians to turn business and clinical questions into precise, answerable data problems.
    • Eager Teammate: Learn from senior data scientists and clinical experts, and share what you discover with the team.
    • Data Quality Champion: Help assess data quality and assumptions for new initiatives, flagging clinical and statistical risks early.
    • Storyteller: Craft clear visualizations, reports, and presentations that turn analysis into action for clinical and business audiences.
