Role Description

PITT OHIO is currently seeking individuals to join our team as a Data Ops & Analytics Specialist at our (insert terminal/corporate) location.

Responsibilities

  • Support Services (60-70%):
    • Provide technical assistance to end users, vendors, and business groups as required; monitoring Tier 2 incident queue and escalating to Tier 3 when needed.
    • Develop, maintain, and support many reports using MSSQL Reporting Services, Power BI and other toolsets.
    • Manage multiple reporting requests in a deadline-driven, high-pressure environment.
    • Analyze, evaluate and interpret data from key business systems.
    • Responsible for maintaining regularly scheduled reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for internal/external customers.
    • Ability to react to change quickly and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
    • Assist users, business analysts, and vendors in troubleshooting business service problems and data inconsistency.
    • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks.
    • Provide process automation support, gathering requirements, and promote requests to Tier 3 for development when ready.
  • Implementation Services (20-30%):
    • Develop, model, and design data architecture solutions, integration, and access in collaboration with engineers, admins and other IT groups.
    • Work with business analysts and data consumers to translate business requirements into data design.
    • Work independently on moderate to complex projects serving as lead as well as working within a team environment throughout project implementation.
    • Develop process automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate.
    • Complete reviews, upgrades, and replacements of current data analytical technology systems and products on a 3–5-year ongoing cycle.
    • Implementation and deployment of data changes as requested by business analysts and system owners of application/data integrations and data flows.
  • Administration (10-15%):
    • Timely submission of status reports and salary calendars as well as participate in weekly team status meetings.
    • Lead, mentor, and/or provide guidance to data user community, where applicable, including guidance for troubleshooting and design.
    • Work directly with supervisor to strategize and plan 3–5-year data services, capabilities, and self-goals.
    • Assist with ongoing review and documentation of analytical data environment and remediation as needed to address technology gaps and improve support.
  • Other Duties:
    • Promote analytics to the edge of our business focusing on data structure over visualizations.
    • Leverage CoPilot to assist daily job functions.
    • Research new technologies and presents recommendations and justifications on moderate to major hardware and software purchases.
    • Provide backup and support to other Reporting and Data Analysts and Database Administrators; functioning as a successful team member to assist across all data related issues and initiatives as a tier 2 escalation point.
    • Help resolve data architectural disputes among architects, analysts, and/or development groups.
    • Effectively communicate project status and ensure accuracy of project documentation.
    • Document and maintain access, processes, and operating methods.
    • Drafting support documentation (knowledge base articles).
    • Attend and actively participate in team and department meetings.
    • Participate in 24x7 support and on-call rotation as required; available by cell at all times.
    • Assist and work on enterprise projects as required within IT organization.
    • Schedule flexibility and weekend work as required by project implementation and major break/fix.

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years of hands-on experience with reporting development, management, support, and implementation in a Microsoft SQL environment.
  • Education: Associate degree in a technical discipline and/or 8+ years of industry experience OR a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Certification: Microsoft Data Analyst Associate preferred but not required.
  • High level of expertise in the following areas:
    • Microsoft SSRS 2022 (SQL Server Reporting Services)
    • Microsoft Power BI
    • Microsoft Visual Studio and Report Builder
    • Microsoft SQL Server (2019, 2022, 2025) administration
    • Complex SQL query writing
    • SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) and SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) administration
    • Data backup and recovery techniques
    • ETL/data transformation methods and implementation
    • Data virtualization, analytics, and integration techniques
    • Knowledge of multi-server, high availability RPO/RTO in a Microsoft SQL environment
    • Data performance optimization
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to make sense of unclear data and requirements.
  • Understanding/experience with cloud-based integration services and providers is required:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Microsoft Fabric
    • Snowflake
  • Basic understanding of AI technologies and how to prepare and cleanse data for AI consumption.
  • High level of experience in a highly virtualized, converged datacenter environment is a requirement.
  • High level of experience using service desk tools for ticket management (ServiceNow).
  • Full understanding of Microsoft based desktop & server operating systems.
  • High level of experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, and Project.
  • Strong technical writing skills and good ability to speak to different audiences on their terms.
  • Experience interacting with PostgreSQL, FoxPro, MySQL, and Microsoft Access preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing quality work. Operates effectively within the organizational structure and demonstrates the ability to work independently, perform well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Maintains a high level of technical skill by attending technical seminars, training courses, and completing certifications. Communicates this knowledge to others as required.
  • Strong skill in providing technical training (one-on-one, small group or formal presentation).

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to telecommute effectively.
  • Schedule flexibility is a must (weekends, after hours).
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of forces frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
  • Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminals, and extensive reading.
  • Typical exposure to interior environmental conditions like air conditioning and dust; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Talking and hearing is required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information.
  • May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others.
