Role Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Modeler to support the State of Texas SaaS Integration Project. The consultant will design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with enterprise architecture and governance standards. The role focuses on defining data relationships across cloud-based and on-premises systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with State of Texas enterprise data policies.

• Design, document, and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) for SaaS application integration.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to align data models with enterprise standards and governance requirements.
• Analyze business and system requirements to define data entities, relationships, and flows across cloud and legacy environments.
• Develop and maintain metadata repositories, data dictionaries, and lineage documentation.
• Support data mapping, transformation, and migration efforts for integration and reporting.
• Ensure data models meet performance, scalability, and integrity requirements.
• Work with QA teams to define and verify data validation and testing standards.
• Partner with security teams to ensure compliance with privacy and data governance standards.
• Review third-party data models for alignment with enterprise architecture and interoperability.
• Support go-live and post-implementation validation, reconciliation, and optimization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Data Modeler, Data Architect, or Database Designer in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling for SaaS or cloud-based systems.
• Strong SQL expertise and knowledge of data integration and normalization.
• Hands-on experience with ER/Studio, ERwin, PowerDesigner, or similar data modeling tools.
• Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical data design specifications.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Requirements

• Experience in state or government data management environments.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Snowflake/Redshift/Azure SQL.
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF) and data management standards (DAMA-PMBOK).
• Experience modeling data for financial or ERP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, CAPPS).
• Understanding of government data security, classification, and retention standards.
