[Hiring] Data Migration Specialist @Gymdesk

Role Description

Do you enjoy turning messy spreadsheets into clean, organized data? Do you like helping people through a big transition? If so, we'd like to meet you! Gymdesk is hiring a Data Migration Specialist to join our Customer Success team. This is a key role in organizing each new customer's move to Gymdesk. You'll work closely with our Onboarding Specialists to collect a customer's data from their previous software, then clean it, map it, and import it so their business is ready to run on day one.

This is a hands-on role that balances problem-solving with people. One day you might be investigating why a date column won't import correctly. The next, you might be walking a gym owner through a data discrepancy and helping them feel confident about the switch. If you're detail-oriented, calm under a deadline, and happy both working independently and collaborating with a small, supportive team, you'll fit right in.

Responsibilities

• Data Analysis & Mapping
  • Review customer data (CSVs, spreadsheets, software databases) to assess structure, quality, and completeness
  • Map legacy data fields to our platform's schema using internal tools, AI (ChatGPT), or custom scripts
• Migration Execution
  • Transform, clean, and normalize customer data
  • Import data into Gymdesk customer environments and validate against expected outputs
  • Perform iterative migrations and troubleshoot errors during the process
• Product Expertise & Manual Data Entry
  • When required, fill any migration gaps with manual data entry
  • Become an expert in Gymdesk's product so you can set up configurations on behalf of customers
• Customer Communication
  • Coordinate with Onboarding Specialists and customers to collect requirements and data formats
  • Provide status updates, clarify data issues, and help customers understand field-level discrepancies
• Collaboration & Process Improvement
  • Work with product and engineering to report bugs or suggest tooling enhancements
  • Document migration processes and maintain internal guides for repeatable success

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data migration, data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar technical role
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, CSV handling, text encoding, date formats, and data cleansing techniques
• Experience with SaaS platforms, CRM, ERP, or customer-facing data workflows
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a customer-facing or onboarding context
• Knowledge of SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python)
• Knowledge of data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR) as they pertain to customer data
• Experience building or working with internal tools for data migration
• Exposure to project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Notion, Jira, Slack)

How We Measure Success

• Percentage of migrations completed within SLA (e.g., 5-7 days for Tier 1 clients)
• Accuracy rate of migrated records and field mappings
• Customer satisfaction (post-onboarding CSAT or NPS scores)
• Internal team feedback on collaboration and process reliability
