Role Description
As a Data Governance Lead, you will oversee the creation of Data Governance policies and practices, the creation and maintenance of a Data Asset Registry, and the implementation of Data Access Control across platforms.
- Find practical and viable solutions to adapt our architecture to local rules and regulations on data management in the countries we operate in.
- Enable the transfer of data ownership from the data team to the teams producing the data, including creating communication channels and guiding the teams to empower them to make choices about their data.
- Become an expert in our tech stack (Looker, AWS) and ETL pipeline to envision the best practical solutions to control access to data.
- Maintain an up-to-date Data Asset Registry to maintain the highest level of access while ensuring the protection of our proprietary and customer data.
- Standardize data definitions, descriptions, and other metadata, and work with technical data teams to maintain the data dictionary.
- Define data access policies for teams and roles inside and outside of the organization with approval from the Executives of the company.
- Define KPIs for data quality and set up monitoring mechanisms.
- Set up and conduct data compliance training.
- Establish data lifecycle management in compliance with data retention policies (creation to data deletion).
- Redesign our data lake/database to ensure compliance with PII and security standards.
- Work with technical teams to identify and implement solutions to improve data access and data protection.
- Work with our Cloud Security team to identify and resolve security risks posed by data sharing policies and their implementation.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field, Business Administration, or Public Administration
- 4+ years of overall experience in a highly technical environment
- 2+ years working in a data governance role with increasing ownership
- Strong grasp of Data Governance values and techniques
- Strong knowledge of databases and proficiency in SQL
- Experience with Looker is a plus
- Excellent English communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
