[Hiring] Data Governance Analyst @Empower

Role Description

The Analyst supports the implementation and execution of Empower’s enterprise data governance and knowledge management program. This role partners with business and IT stakeholders to apply governance frameworks, ensuring data and content are accurate, consistent, and compliant across structured and unstructured environments.

The position focuses on executing governance processes, supporting data quality and metadata management efforts, and contributing to audit readiness. The Analyst also assists in advancing governance practices across data lifecycles and emerging areas such as AI/GenAI under guidance from senior team members.

Essential Functions

• Implement and maintain enterprise data governance and knowledge management frameworks, standards, and procedures aligned to established policies.
• Apply data and content classification, ownership, and stewardship practices across systems and business domains.
• Conduct data and content quality assessments; document findings and support remediation tracking and resolution efforts.
• Support metadata management activities, including maintaining data definitions, glossary terms, and catalog entries (e.g., Collibra).
• Partner with IT and business teams to apply governance standards across data platforms and workflows.
• Assist in embedding governance controls within data processes and lifecycle activities.
• Support regulatory and internal audit activities by gathering documentation and maintaining evidence of governance controls (e.g., CCPA, GLBA, ERISA, SEC/FINRA).
• Contribute to governance reporting and metrics by preparing data quality summaries, issue logs, and basic KPI tracking.
• Participate in governance forums, working sessions, and training initiatives to support adoption and awareness.
• Contribute to data and knowledge literacy initiatives and support governance considerations for AI/GenAI use cases under guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in data governance, information governance, data management, or related fields.
• Working knowledge of data quality, metadata management, data stewardship, or content governance concepts.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance concepts (e.g., data privacy, records management).
• Exposure to metadata/catalog tools (e.g., Collibra or similar) and data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) is preferred.
• Basic proficiency in SQL or data querying tools.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
• Ability to translate governance requirements into documented processes and procedures.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
