Role Description

The Data Analytics Engineer focuses on data preparation and front-end business intelligence. Working within a collaborative team, this role is responsible for:

• Cleaning, aggregating, and structuring raw operational data related to schools, colleges, and corporate partners.
• Consuming data from tables managed by the Data Integration team and using SQL or data prep tools to create optimized views for reporting.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performing dashboards and visual reports using Looker to identify key trends and patterns.
• Writing clean, optimized SQL queries and managing database view configurations to ensure frontend reporting sheets refresh smoothly, rapidly, and accurately.
• Partnering with team members to gather operational requirements and translating complex tracking metrics into intuitive layouts.
• Implementing rigorous validation checks to ensure dashboard numbers consistently align with actual system records.
• Contributing to internal documentation detailing data processing procedures to maintain team-wide consistency.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for educational equity, youth development, and contributing to closing the gender gap in STEM fields.
• Five years of industry experience in SaaS or non-profit technical environments.
• Solid proficiency in relational databases and visual analytics platforms (specifically MySQL and Looker Studio).
• Strong mastery of writing, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex SQL queries to manipulate, aggregate, and join disparate data tables.
• Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis is advantageous.
• A strong analytical mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Comfortable navigating and utilizing Jira for task tracking and Google Workspace for documentation and collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline) or equivalent practical professional experience.

Requirements

• Minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week.
• $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership (exempt for K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students).
