Role Description

The Data Analyst V reports to the Financial Data Team Manager within the Office of Finance and serves as the lead subject matter expert for financial data management, analytics, reporting, and data governance activities. This position performs highly advanced (senior-level) analytical work and provides strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of enterprise financial reporting, data quality initiatives, and business intelligence solutions supporting DFPS financial and operational objectives.

• Responsible for leading agency-wide efforts to improve data integrity, reporting consistency, system interoperability, and decision-support capabilities.
• Provides expert consultation to executive leadership, program areas, Information Technology, and external stakeholders regarding financial data, reporting methodologies, system requirements, and emerging analytical practices.
• Oversees the development of complex data solutions, establishes data governance standards, and directs initiatives involving financial, operational, and regulatory reporting.
• Translates complex business and technical requirements into sustainable analytical solutions and actionable recommendations that support executive decision-making.
• Leads and mentors analysts, promotes best practices for data management and reporting.
• Serves as the Office of Finance representative on complex enterprise projects involving financial systems, data integration, and reporting modernization efforts.
• This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with agency policy and business needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is generally preferred.
• Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

Requirements

• Experience developing, maintaining, and optimizing complex SQL scripts and database solutions.
• Experience designing and implementing reporting, dashboard, and business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or similar technologies.
• Experience leading enterprise data governance, data quality, or large-scale reporting initiatives.
• Experience analyzing and reporting financial data in a governmental, accounting, auditing, or regulatory environment.
• Experience serving as a lead analyst, project lead, technical lead, or subject matter expert.
• Current or prior CAPPS experience preferred.
