Role Description

Reporting to the Manager, Data Science & Web Development, the Data Analyst at the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the donor experience by utilizing statistical methods and data visualization techniques to analyze datasets and provide insights that support fundraising strategies and optimize conservation projects. This position plays an active role in ongoing data operations, including data management, integration, and ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security. The Data Analyst also provides reporting, documentation, and user support to enable effective use of data across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Insights:
    • Uses statistical methods and data visualization techniques to analyze and interpret datasets.
    • Provides insights and recommendations to support fundraising strategies and optimize conservation projects.
    • Analyzes donor data to identify trends and opportunities for donor engagement and retention.
    • Performs data analysis for key fundraising and conservation initiatives.
    • Applies predictive modelling and machine learning techniques to derive data insights.
    • Extracts and transforms data and develops data pipelines required for campaign execution.
  • Data Management & Integration:
    • Ensures data accuracy, integrity, and security across systems and outputs.
    • Supports the extraction, transformation, integration, and input of various datasets and data tools into required platforms.
    • Maintains quality control over entries into Raiser’s Edge and cloud-based systems (including Salesforce Non-profit Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Form Assembly, and Salesforce Data Cloud) and supports related procedures.
    • Prepares queries and transforms, validates, and performs quality controls on data used for donor tax receipt generation.
    • Uses various Microsoft-based AI tools and frameworks to support CWF data privacy, security, governance, and data-related innovation needs.
  • Reporting, Documentation, & Support:
    • Generates reports and communicates findings to diverse audiences.
    • Provides user training and support for data-related questions and technical issues.
    • Develops and maintains documentation to support data understanding and reproducible workflows.
    • Maintains data dictionaries and contributes to data management practices across the data lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in Computer Science, Statistics, Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in Education, Environmental Studies, Community Development, or a related field.

Requirements

  • Employee primarily works in an office or home-office environment.
  • Employee may be exposed to mental stress due to:
    • Managing conflicting demands from multiple work activities.
    • Disruptions from urgent or last-minute requests.
