Role Description

The Mortgage Business Intelligence & Analytics team oversees all activities and functions involved with the company’s Business Intelligence platform, giving mortgage company business leaders access to reliable, actionable data to better manage and understand the business and drive company growth.

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst to focus on the development of our Power BI reporting environment. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for creating impactful dashboards and reports which deliver meaningful data to our business leaders to achieve organizational goals. This role will do more than compile tabular data; it will have an opportunity to use data to tell a story and help our team, as well as business leaders, derive meaningful insights. This role will support various facets of the company including sales, HR, and Finance.

The right candidate will have a strong background with Power BI and will be detail-oriented, with the ability to infer business needs and develop reporting solutions using data visualization best practices. Responsibilities include:

• Report Development (50%)
  • Build effective and efficient reports and dashboards using best practices in data presentation and design language
  • Migrate existing reporting inventory to a centralized semantic model
  • Automate/streamline manual processes
• Data Monitoring and Diagnostics (20%)
  • Monitor reports for data discrepancies and issues through use of Power BI and SQL
  • Address, diagnose, and resolve reporting issues identified by business partners
• Semantic Model Support (10%)
  • Propose changes and enhancements to established semantic models to support new reporting or improve existing reporting
  • Implement minor changes to semantic models as needed
• Report Maintenance (10%)
  • Make minor changes and updates to existing reports as needed
• Documentation (5%)
  • Document report development processes for business contingency purposes
  • Maintain semantic model documentation, including data sources and table relationships
  • Maintain an index of all active reports, including data lineage, purpose, and audience
  • Maintain reporting changelog
• Team Support & Other Duties (5%)
  • Provide backfill support for ongoing team work as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a data or business intelligence focused role
• 3+ years creating BI dashboards and reports with a focus on data visualization and storytelling with a high proficiency using Power BI
• 3+ years writing SQL queries for data mining
• 3+ years’ experience collecting and documenting business requirements
• Mortgage experience highly preferred
• Experience with Financial reporting a plus

• Intermediate proficiency with Power BI:
  • Understand how to navigate semantic models
  • Understand/create dynamic measures using DAX
  • Power Query for data sourcing/transformation
  • Row-level security implementation
  • Calculation groups
  • Data visualization
• Intermediate level proficiency with SQL (T-SQL):
  • Standard select queries
  • Joins across multivariate datasets including multiple keys
  • Data normalization
  • Window functions and methods
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
