Role Description

The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions. This position will be part of a dynamic, energetic and collaborative team that supports the organization in the use of data and information to further OHSU’s mission to strive for excellence in education, research and scholarship, clinical practice and community service.

  • Propose, facilitate and document modifications to existing business processes and operational workflows.
  • Analyze data in enterprise applications including Oracle EBS, Epic and Banner to meet reporting requirements.
  • Conduct customer meetings to obtain system definition and design approvals or develop system or workflow interfaces, and requirements gathering.
  • Design, develop and document new applications and systems or clinical/operational workflows.
  • Analyze present and future system needs of customers and make recommendations on options and alternatives for implementing applications and systems or processes.
  • Design, develop and document modifications to existing applications and systems.
  • Assume project coordination responsibilities for small projects or sub-projects within a larger project.
  • Ensure data integrity and validity of applications and systems.
  • Apply proper quality assurance standards throughout the software development process.
  • Document user-friendly testing of system/interface requirements and make design recommendations.
  • Assist and/or develop test cases and scripts and thoroughly test fixes, enhancements, and patches prior to release into user testing.
  • Document and communicate preliminary testing results.
  • Develop test plans and conduct testing.
  • Translate technical specifications and requirements into informative, user-friendly test plans for end-user acceptance testing.
  • Test vendor upgrades and new releases.
  • Provide ongoing support, follow up and maintenance to existing applications and systems or workflows.
  • Triage and address issues as they arise based on customer incidents and change requests.
  • Assist in the development and design of system interfaces and data integration to support BI Reporting, Analysis and Application needs.
  • Provide training/mentor assistance to analysts and/or end users with less experience.
  • Coordinate the escalation and resolution of software processing problems with vendor support specialists.
  • Act as a strong advocate and representative for the end-user.
  • Participate in activities that enhance general knowledge of or ability to do assigned work.
  • Attend classes, seminars, and other training forums.
  • Read vendor documentation, trade publications, or other sources appropriate to position.
  • Interact with peers and other employees to receive and disseminate information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or computer science or related field and four years of work-related experience in the information technology field; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science or related field and six years of work-related experience in the information technology field; OR
  • Associate’s degree in business or computer science or related field and seven years of work-related experience in the information technology field; OR
  • Eight years work related experience in the information technology field; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum three years of business analyst experience.
  • Experience leading requirements gathering sessions and documenting associated business requirements for large-scale IT projects.
  • Experience planning and managing large-scale IT projects.
  • Experience with Cognos, Oracle, Power BI or other BI tool.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of data warehousing architecture.
  • Proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation/facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate skilled problem-solving capabilities to determine solutions and options to resolve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience with Power BI products.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS or other ERP financial modules.
  • Knowledge of Oracle EBS or other ERP financial data and related databases and processes.
  • Ability to read, write and maintain basic SQL code.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
  • IBM Cognos Certified Professional.
