Role Description

Our client is looking for an Associate Director of Data Strategy to join their fast-growing Technology. In this role, you'll help the performance marketers and their clients extract more insight and performance from their data by planning, prioritizing, and orchestrating multi-channel data and predictive analytics projects end-to-end. You'll support a diverse portfolio of enterprise clients and consult on a variety of data solutions unique to our clients' Martech stack and business objectives, advancing their measurement maturity with Media Mix Modeling, incrementality testing, and predictive analytics.

You'll guide clients and client teams in building a comprehensive data model and taxonomy that can serve as an omnichannel single source of truth for marketing performance and analysis. You'll craft data solutions in partnership with technical experts in analytics tagging and configuration, data engineering, and reporting, and data analysis to maximize data utility through our services and apps in Polaris, and their marketing intelligence platform.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the client-facing lead on end-to-end data strategy, from tracking and tagging architecture through data engineering, reporting, and advanced measurement, and effectively communicating challenges and solutions.
  • Owning the measurement maturity roadmap for a portfolio of enterprise clients, covering tagging and tracking foundations, data pipeline and warehousing needs, reporting and visualization, and advanced measurement (MMM, MTA, incrementality testing, etc).
  • Architecting and guiding conversion event tagging and tracking solutions (Google Tag Manager, server-side GTM, Adobe Launch/Experience Platform, Tealium, Segment) in partnership with our Solutions Engineering team, while ensuring data governance and QA standards are followed.
  • Defining requirements for data pipelines and data models in partnership with our Data Engineering team: identifying relevant KPIs and data sources, determining the best path for connecting data into our database, and establishing business rules for downstream visualization and analysis.
  • Translating complex technical and statistical concepts into actionable insights and recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working closely with paid media buyers to support performance measurement analysis and define methods for optimizing campaign outcomes.
  • Directly communicating with clients and internal stakeholders to understand and address data needs across your book of business.
  • Keeping up with industry measurement and tracking trends (privacy policy shifts, consent frameworks, first-party data strategy) to brief senior client stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in digital media/marketing analytics, including hands-on experience inside a digital analytics platform (GA4 or Adobe Analytics) and 6+ years working with paid media data in a client-facing role.
  • Demonstrated experience with tag management platforms (Google Tag Manager and/or Adobe Launch), including server-side tagging concepts, with the ability to architect a tagging plan and guide Solutions Engineers on execution.
  • Working knowledge of Customer Data Platforms such as Tealium or Segment.
  • General data engineering fluency: SQL proficiency (BigQuery preferred), understanding of how to scope requirements for data pipelines/ETL, and the ability to partner with Data Engineers on schema and data model design.
  • Experience building and/or overseeing reporting and visualization solutions (Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, ThoughtSpot) and defining the business rules for how data surfaces in dashboards.
  • Experience or familiarity with marketing measurement disciplines, including Media Mix Modeling, Multi-Touch Attribution, Incrementality Testing, Data Clean Rooms, Lifetime Value Modeling and Propensity Modeling.
  • Knowledge of data taxonomy governance as it relates to tracking, visualization, and analysis needs, including an understanding of connecting online and offline data sets.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams to define requirements for data models and analytics: identifying KPIs and data sources, defining the best path for piping data into a database, and setting business rules for output in visualization and advanced analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel (beyond data entry, comfortable identifying trends and building basic analysis) and Google Slides or PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into clear recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work efficiently across multiple teams, clients, and timelines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and data usage guidelines (GDPR, CCPA) and how they affect tagging and tracking implementation.
  • Experience with MarTech architecture and awareness of the broader digital marketing landscape, particularly paid media data portability.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with server-side GTM implementations and privacy-centric tracking frameworks (e.g., Consent Mode v2).
  • Hands-on QA/debugging experience with tools such as GA4 DebugView, Tag Assistant, or browser network request inspection to validate tracking implementations.
  • A functional understanding of the broader MarTech/AdTech stack: advertising platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads), analytics (GA4, Adobe Analytics), tag management (GTM, Tealium, Segment), and data aggregation/visualization (BigQuery, Funnel, Looker Studio, Tableau, Looker).
  • Expertise creating and implementing data taxonomy governance best practices across multiple ad platforms.
  • Experience or familiarity with Mobile Measurement Partners (AppsFlyer, Kochava) or deploying tracking solutions in an app environment.
  • Familiarity with basic data pipeline/ETL tooling (Fivetran, Stitch, dbt).
  • Understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (Salesforce, HubSpot) and their role in end-to-end measurement.
  • Understanding of Identity Resolution platforms (LiveRamp, Experian).
