[Hiring] Analytics Engineer @DoiT

Role Description

As an Analytics Engineer, you will join the Business Intelligence team within Business Systems Engineering. This role is based remotely in Mexico or Colombia as a full-time employee or in other LATAM locations as a contractor, with working hours that overlap meaningfully with US time zones.

You will work as an engineer on the data platform, not just a builder of reports. You are the kind of person who:

• Is averse to doing the same manual task twice.
• Treats data models like production code.
• Instinctively adds tests and monitoring to catch problems early.

You will own a meaningful share of the platform’s day-to-day engineering, allowing analysts to focus on analysis and larger platform initiatives to receive sustained attention. This is a high-ownership role with real room to grow, reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Shared ownership of the platform's engineering, including:
  • Routine model changes
  • The engineering backlog
  • New data source onboarding from raw ingestion to certified datasets
  • CI/CD maintenance
  • Infrastructure operations
• Build, test, and maintain data models and pipelines for:
  • Dashboards
  • Finance and investor reporting
  • AI analytics layer across 15+ business domains
• Manage data infrastructure as code using Terraform, including:
  • Provisioning and configuring BigQuery datasets, views, GCS buckets, and IAM permissions
  • Onboarding ingestion destinations
  • Managing access controls
  • Handling schema drift on source tables
• Own data access and governance, including:
  • Expanding RBAC implementation
  • Keeping data catalog metadata current
  • Updating documentation
• Improve platform reliability by:
  • Strengthening testing standards
  • Enhancing observability and alerting
• Support orchestration and scheduling by:
  • Understanding how Airflow DAGs run dbt builds
  • Tagging models for scheduling
  • Troubleshooting build failures in Cloud Composer
• Build and maintain custom data connectors for SaaS sources not covered by native Fivetran connectors.
• Partner with BI analysts to turn ambiguous questions into well-modeled datasets.
• Use modern AI tooling to draft code and accelerate routine work.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI engineering.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Proficiency in dbt and data transformation.
• Software engineering discipline, including version control and automated testing.
• Pipeline reliability instincts.
• Ability to translate business needs into data requirements.
• Comfort with multi-repo environments.
• Experience with AI-assisted development.
• Independence in a remote, global team.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Bonus Points

• Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery, Fivetran, and Apache Airflow.
• Experience with data catalog and governance tooling.
• Familiarity with Git-based CI/CD for data projects.
• Experience provisioning data infrastructure with Terraform.
• Proficiency in Python for data integration.
• Understanding of dbt build lifecycle.
• Experience with BigQuery performance tuning.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with pre-commit hooks and code quality automation.
• Prior experience modeling data from various SaaS platforms.
