Role Description
As an Actuarial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting the actuarial department by performing initial pricing analyses, collecting and refining data, and conducting thorough pricing evaluations for our insurance products.
- Gather and clean up data, ensuring that it is accurate, complete, and ready for analysis
- Perform data analysis, conduct rate review, and recommend changes to new and existing insurance products
- Assist in the preparation of rate filing materials, exhibits, and other filing support data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including state product management, finance, and claims, to provide actuarial support
- Understand business requirements, provide project updates, and communicate results
- Follow industry developments, trends, market landscape, and emerging actuarial methods and tools
- Provide analytical support to other functions on an ad hoc basis
Qualifications
- BA/BS in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science or related area and 1 - 3 years of experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal lines insurance
- OR Graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science or related area
- Completion of two or more actuarial exams
- Have a basic understanding of the market landscape
Requirements
- Effective computer software programming skills, such as Python or VBA
- Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Proven oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Possesses pattern-recognition skills and logic-based thinking
- Prior experience in the insurance industry
- Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.)
- Lives into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.)
- Travels as needed for role, including divisional/team meetings and other in-person meetings
- Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
