Role Description

The Sales Customer Advisory Consultant is responsible for providing industry and market knowledge leadership to current and prospective customers. In this role, you will deliver consultative input on how Hyland's software can support customers' business objectives β€” acting as a trusted advisor to both the sales team and the organizations we serve.

  • Serve as a consultant to the sales team and customers during engagements, broadening industry and market knowledge to drive customer need and create revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Elicit business requirements from customers through interviews and document analysis, ensuring alignment between customer needs and solution offerings.
  • Develop solution selling tools β€” including product briefs, demo scripts, and case studies β€” to support the education of employees, resellers, customers, and prospects.
  • Support the sales team in achieving or exceeding sales objectives by sharing best practices, competitor insights, and market trends relevant to the industry.
  • Collaborate with marketing to provide meaningful input on sales collateral, including brochures, white papers, presentations, and case studies.
  • Partner with developers and subject matter experts to establish a technical vision that addresses customer usability and performance needs, while advising on emergent features required to meet evolving requirements.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated industry or market knowledge and experience relevant to the assigned segment.
  • Ability to establish rapport, build trust, and gain consensus across multiple departments and leadership levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills β€” able to convey ideas with clarity, ease, and impact for varied audiences.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independently managing projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Strong collaboration skills with proven success working across cross-functional teams and organizations.

Requirements

  • Experience developing solution selling tools such as product briefs, demo scripts, and case studies.
  • Proven ability to elicit and document business requirements through structured interviews and analysis.
  • Track record of working cross-functionally with marketing and product development teams.
  • Familiarity with competitor landscape and evolving market trends within the relevant industry.
  • Experience building and maintaining third-party relationships to shorten sales cycles and deepen market penetration.
