[Hiring] Bilingual Claims Helper @Castlemain

Role Description

This role supports multiple projects across Castlemain, with a primary focus on the Federal Indian Hospitals Settlement, helping Class Members navigate the claims process. Castlemain ensures Claimants can access, understand, and respond to the Settlement, while providing support to complete and submit claims.

As a Bilingual Claims Helper, you will walk alongside Class Members throughout their claims journey by providing clear information about the settlement and claims process and offering trauma-informed one-on-one support virtually or by phone.

This permanent full-time position is open to candidates located across Canada.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills (in both English and French).
• Experience working with Indigenous Peoples and communities (three years or more), developed through community, professional roles, or lived experience.
• Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, history, and the impacts of trauma.
• An in-depth understanding of colonial policies, discriminatory laws, and the impacts of colonization on Indigenous peoples as well as governance structure of Indigenous communities.

Requirements

• Ability to travel across Canada; up to 30% of the role, with individual trips of up to 7-10 days in duration.
• An intermediate understanding of technology and online platforms, or a strong aptitude for learning new tools quickly.
• Ability to access your local airport and possible nearby work locations.
• Access to a quiet workspace and internet.
• Successful candidates will be required to complete both a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) as a condition of employment.

Benefits

• Starting annual compensation of $60,000-$65,000 (full-time equivalent) plus a rewarding benefits package.
• Candidates living in northern or remote communities may be eligible for a Northern Allowance. Eligibility and tier placement are based on Canada Revenue Agency zone designations.
