Role Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Compliance Specialist to join our Safety & Compliance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges, influencing best practice, and making a tangible impact on the safety and compliance of our national transport operations.

As a recognised specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring Calor meets its legal and regulatory obligations relating to Operator Licence compliance, Workshop Management Standards, and the carriage of dangerous goods. You'll work closely with operational teams, managers and key stakeholders across the business, providing expert guidance, coaching and support to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as a subject matter expert for transport compliance, fleet safety, workshop standards, and dangerous goods regulations.
  • Conduct structured audits across Calor sites, identifying both best practice and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support and guide operational teams to ensure compliance with Operator Licence undertakings, ADR and CDG regulations.
  • Act as Calor's Principal Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA), fulfilling all regulatory requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Analyse compliance data and produce detailed audit reports, recommendations, and performance insights.
  • Coach and mentor Transport Managers, Workshop Supervisors, HSSE colleagues and wider business stakeholders.
  • Investigate compliance issues and system failures, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with operational, fleet, safety and training teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent Calor during regulatory and Department for Transport audits and inspections.

Qualifications

  • Experience within transport operations, workshop management, compliance, or dangerous goods environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Operator Licensing requirements and transport compliance legislation.
  • Excellent analytical and auditing skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and priorities effectively.
  • A passion for safety and a commitment to maintaining the highest operational standards.

Requirements

  • Transport Manager CPC Qualification.
  • Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) Qualification.
  • Auditing experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience producing compliance reports and performance data.
  • Experience working within transport, workshop, or compliance functions.

Desirable

  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Formal auditing qualification.
  • Professional accreditation such as CILT, IMI or IRTE.
  • Broader knowledge of dangerous goods legislation and best practice.
