[Hiring] Temporary Compliance Analyst @University of Washington Medical Center

Role Description

The Office of Research has an outstanding opportunity for a Compliance Analyst (E S 8) (Temporary – 6 months) to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Compliance, the Compliance Analyst is responsible for professional-level administration and coordination in the areas of conflict of interest and outside work programs in the Office of Research. This position is eligible for telework.

Key Responsibilities

• 30% - Faculty Outside Work Program:
  • Manage intake process of Faculty Outside Work Forms as prescribed by Executive Order No 57.
  • Responsible for document intake and preliminary analysis, data entry, and acknowledgement of forms.
  • Triaging to research security office review when applicable, approval tracking, and approval issuance.
  • Primary responsibility for database and related records retention management.
  • Communicate review outcomes to faculty, department liaisons, and other central offices as needed.
  • Maintain process documentation, version logs, and user guides to support training and audit readiness.
  • Analysis of forms, elevating those requiring deeper review to the DC with review recommendations.
  • Act as a service and inquiry point of contact for faculty and administrators via phone and email.
  • Responsible for special projects and reports related to Faculty Outside Work.
• 40% - Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) Program:
  • Support the FCOI program by conducting pre-reviews of Significant Financial Interest (SFI) and Technology Transfer disclosures.
  • Collaborate with University researchers and administrators to ensure complete SFI disclosures are submitted timely.
  • Work with University partner offices to ensure researcher compliance with GIM 10.
  • Ensure delivery of management plans to Investigators and relevant University offices.
  • Work with the Compliance Team to ensure accurate tracking of required FCOI training for faculty.
  • Assist with maintaining FCOI database records and workflows.
• 30% - Conflict of Commitment:
  • Ensure compliance of UW Faculty and Investigators with State and Federal Regulations regarding conflicts of interest and commitment.
  • Carry out pre-review at required stages of grant approvals, including the proposal stage.
  • Coordinate with researchers and research administrators to ensure compliance is documented in relevant University systems.
  • Serve as liaison to other central campus offices for inquiries related to conflicts of interest.
  • Communicate review outcomes as part of research administration workflow.
  • Assist the Compliance team in monitoring compliance with Outside Professional Work for Compensation.

Lead Responsibilities:

• Conduct preliminary review of Requests for Approval of Outside Professional Work for Compensation (Form 1460).
• Conduct Conflict of Commitment pre-review.
• Conduct pre-reviews on SFI disclosures and related sponsored programs.
• Conduct pre-review for Technology Transfer disclosures.
• Collaborate with University researchers and departments for timely and accurate submissions.
• Communicate with central campus offices to ensure compliance with FCOI policy.
• Support implementation of University initiatives or training to reduce administrative burden.
• Maintain current and accurate required Federal and Public Reporting of FCOI Data.
• Provide customer service via phone, virtual meetings, or email.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, science, communications, or risk assessment, or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in a risk management, legal, or compliance role.

Requirements

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and databases in a Windows environment.
• Experience with creating data visualizations, such as with Power BI.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in a large, highly structured environment.
• Ability to make decisions and problem solve independently with high reliability and accuracy.
• Ability to manage a high volume of time-sensitive materials within a specialized database.

Benefits

• Pay Range Minimum: $78,600.00 annual
• Pay Range Maximum: $84,000.00 annual
