[Hiring] Customs Compliance Lead @Panasonic

Role Description

Position is responsible to ensure that Country of Origin (COO) and related customs compliance activities within and related to the PNA Business Unit(s) are undertaken in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and government regulations. Additionally, this position is responsible for developing and delivering audit and post-entry activity. This position may have direct reports and is supported by PEXNA Logistics and reports into the PNA Customs Compliance Manager.

What You'll Get To Do:

• Management of Activities
  • Position may include direct and indirect reports contributing to deliverables.
  • Establishes goals, manages performance, and ensures activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with regulations.
  • Develops, executes, and communicates KPIs/metrics/results related to department compliance, accuracy, productivity, and efficiencies.
• Customs Compliance Related Activities – Including but not limited to:
  • Support management of timely and accurate import & exports in compliance with government regulations, corporate policies, and procedures within the organization.
  • Develop and deliver execution of the Country of Origin (COO) validation program including management of Certificates of Origins and Free Trade Agreement certificates.
  • Development of systematic process to solicit, manage, and audit Certificates of Origin.
  • Execute periodic audit of all factories, coordinate with business units, identify any larger scale issues.
  • Develop and deliver training on COO determination for business units and factories as required.
  • Monitor changes in tariff or duty related programs and evaluate impacts, assess and execute activities to mitigate.
  • Support development of audit process and delivery ongoing audits (COO, import, export, classification, etc).
• Post Entry and Audit Activity Support
  • Identify requirements, audit/analyze entries, track, trace, and communicate requirements and corrections to Customs and Brokers.
  • Monitor execution and report on post entry activity including Post Summary Corrections, Protests, Prior Disclosures, Voluntary Tenders.
  • Manage & Report on Activity: Develop, execute, and communicate KPIs/metrics/results related to department compliance, accuracy, productivity, and efficiencies.
• Process Improvement
  • Support update and assessment of Trade Compliance Policy, Customs Compliance Manual, and Import/Export Ops Manual.
  • In coordination with Business Unit and PNA Customs Compliance Manager, identify, develop, and deliver trade compliance training to identified team members.
  • Communicate corporate level information, bulletins, and training to internal Business Unit team members.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred - BA/BS in Supply Chain, Logistics or related area.
• 5+ years of practical experience in handling customs and international trade related issues, country of origin support, product classification, qualification of goods for free trade agreements OR equivalent experience.
• A current customs broker’s license or CCS is desired but not required.
• Lean Continuous Improvement Experience and/or certifications a plus.
• Possess a working knowledge and direct experience in import and export activities and Customhouse brokerage.
• Possess a practical knowledge of CBP compliance best practices and regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, capable of working as part of a team or alone.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Power Point, and Power BI.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support clear and timely updates.
• Travel less than 5%.
