Role Description

The Corporate Compliance Manager reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for managing, coordinating, and monitoring corporate compliance programs across Akhiok-Kaguyak, Inc. (AKI) and its subsidiaries. This position serves as the organization's primary corporate compliance resource, ensuring that business activities align with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, government contracting requirements, corporate policies, and established internal controls.

  • Provides independent compliance oversight, evaluates regulatory risks, develops and maintains compliance procedures, conducts internal reviews, coordinates audits, recommends corrective actions, and advises the CEO on significant compliance matters.
  • Primary areas of responsibility include FAR/DFARS, DCAA, DCMA, SBA 8(a)/ANC requirements, the Service Contract Act (SCA), applicable federal contractor employment regulations, and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) initiatives.
  • Works collaboratively with Human Resources, Finance, Contracts, Operations, and Information Technology to establish consistent compliance practices, monitor regulatory obligations, and support organizational audit readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, establishing positive and collaborative working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Effectively communicates compliance expectations, findings, and recommendations in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Dedicated exclusively to corporate and regulatory compliance and does not include direct management of other corporate departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Compliance, Legal Studies, Accounting, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate compliance, regulatory compliance, government contracting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating compliance risks, conducting internal reviews, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and federal government contracting compliance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating government contractor audits, regulatory reviews, or internal compliance assessments.
  • Knowledge of compliance management practices, internal controls, regulatory reporting, and risk assessment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and assess organizational compliance risks.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with employees, department leadership, executive management, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, build positive working relationships, and foster cooperation across departments and subsidiaries.
  • Ability to address sensitive compliance matters, communicate findings, and provide constructive feedback with professionalism, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
  • Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate differing perspectives and work toward practical, compliant solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach and supporting a collaborative work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and compliance initiatives across multiple business entities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively across departments.

Requirements

  • Experience working within an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC), SBA 8(a) participant, or multi-entity federal government contracting organization.
  • Knowledge of SBA 8(a) program requirements, ANC regulations, and federal small-business contracting compliance.
  • Familiarity with DCAA and DCMA audit requirements and government contractor internal controls.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, or supporting CMMI processes and appraisal readiness.
  • Knowledge of federal contractor employment compliance requirements, including SCA, EEO, and veteran reporting obligations.
  • Experience with compliance management systems, audit tracking tools, and document management platforms.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint, ADP Workforce Now, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or CMMI Associate.
