Role Description

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Relations is a key leader within ISC2's global communications team, responsible for advancing the organization's mission through strategic communications, media relations, executive communications and reputation management initiatives. This role leads a team of communications professionals and partners closely with executives, subject matter experts and stakeholders across the organization to develop compelling narratives, support organizational priorities and strengthen ISC2's visibility and influence within the cybersecurity profession. The Senior Manager serves as both a strategic advisor and hands-on leader, overseeing public relations programs, agency partnerships and communications efforts that support ISC2's long-term goals.

This position is not available to residents of California.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of global public relations, executive, and advocacy communications strategies that support ISC2's mission, strategic priorities, products, services and organizational initiatives.
  • Lead ISC2's global media relations activities, including media outreach, spokesperson preparation, press materials, agency management and performance reporting.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic counsel on messaging, executive visibility and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage and develop a team of communications and public relations professionals by establishing goals, priorities and performance metrics aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and support for ISC2 governance activities, including Board communications, annual director elections, membership meetings, annual report and other initiatives that strengthen member engagement, organizational transparency and trust.
  • Develop and maintain corporate messaging, ensuring consistency across audiences, channels and regions.
  • Oversee executive communications, including speeches, presentations, talking points, bylined articles and thought leadership content.
  • Partner with teams across the organization to support major announcements, campaigns, advocacy and research initiatives, events and other strategic programs.
  • Identify and manage communications opportunities and reputational risks, helping to develop response strategies and crisis communications plans when needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media, industry influencers and other external stakeholders to strengthen ISC2's visibility and reputation.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging issues and best practices to help inform communications strategies and organizational positioning.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications and public relations programs, using insights to continuously improve results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Understand and operate in another function’s environment, bringing back their priorities to translate into a communications approach.

Qualifications

  • Possess exceptional communication (verbal and written) and editorial skills.
  • Can confidently articulate information in a professional manner to individuals at all levels, and with both internal and external partners.
  • A proven understanding of commercial activities within an organization and how to articulate them for public audiences.
  • Excellent copywriting abilities; savvy editorial skills and an adaptable writing style for broad audiences and on multiple channels.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, SharePoint), and internet and web applications/navigation.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 8+ years of experience in a Public Relations or Communications role, either corporate, membership association or PR/PA agency.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and the cybersecurity media landscape.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Up to 10% travel may be required (e.g. trade and ISC2 events).
  • Work normal business hours and extended hours when necessary.
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods in a remote environment.
  • Regular use of office equipment such as a computer/laptop and monitor computer screens.

Total Rewards

  • The pay range for this position is $136,620 - $156,613/Yr.
  • Final pay is based on several factors including but not limited to internal equity, market data, and the applicant’s education, work experience, certifications, etc.
  • This position is eligible to participate in ISC2's annual discretionary bonus program.
