Role Description

The Events and Communications Specialist will support the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) Communications Support contract by:

• Planning and executing information sharing events.
• Developing communications and toolkit materials.
• Supporting research and outreach campaigns to help SLTT stakeholders strengthen cybersecurity and physical security practices.

This role works closely with the Program Manager and CISA stakeholders to deliver high-quality, user-friendly communications products and well-run events.

The Events and Communications Specialist role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver, and action-oriented team player with previous experience in management consulting and business development pursuits. This position needs an individual that is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure, and has a positive and flexible attitude.

This is a contingent hire position. Offers will be contingent upon client approval, ability to meet security requirements, and the ability to adhere to any on-site requirements (which may change at contract award). Remote work is anticipated; however, candidates must be within commuting distance to Washington, DC metro area for client engagements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, event planning, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Currently holds, or is able to obtain, a DHS Fitness Determination/DHS Suitability.
• Experience developing communications materials and/or planning and executing events for a federal government client, preferably in a health or homeland security setting.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DHS Suitability/a Public Trust clearance.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Requirements

• Support planning and execution of up to two live CISA-hosted events per contract year (e.g., conferences, summits, roundtables) and up to four livestreamed events (e.g., webinars, fireside chats), including:
• Developing agendas.
• Coordinating speakers.
• Drafting invitations.
• Tracking RSVPs.
• Arrange event space and logistics, draft related communications materials, develop presentations and graphics, and provide staffing support during events.
• Support development of a cybersecurity and physical security toolkit for SLTT stakeholders, including:
• Fact sheets.
• Statistics.
• Short engaging videos.
• Customizable templates such as posters, articles, and presentations.
• Assist with research and analysis on SLTT-level cybersecurity volunteer program best practices and SLTT awareness of CISA resources, and help develop an outreach campaign to share effective practices.
• Support the CISA Resilience Challenge, including:
• Engagement activities.
• Identifying SLTT entities with noteworthy cybersecurity practices.
• Drafting social media content.
• Helping organize the public capstone event.
• Assist the Program Manager in preparing materials for monthly progress reports and other contract deliverables.
• Coordinate with CISA stakeholders and SLTT partners to ensure communications products and events reflect accurate, clear, and user-friendly messaging.
• Support compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements for electronic communications materials and deliverables.
