Role Description

The Senior Principal - Business Consulting will be responsible for developing, building, and maintaining strong relationships with IPS customers by understanding their objectives deeply in specific public sector policy domain areas. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and obtaining opportunities for IPS in public utilities, lottery agencies, and state labor, commerce, and higher education departments.
• Leading delivery efforts that ensure customer satisfaction.
• Possessing specific and deep policy domain expertise in relevant areas.
• Understanding data use and reporting patterns of agencies (e.g., Prevailing Wage/Davis-Bacon payroll system, Sectoral Partnership Workforce Data Systems).
• Leading the scoping of products that meet client desires and managing development teams.
• Communicating the IPS value proposition to senior leaders in relevant organizations.
• Acting as a thought leader and subject matter expert in the relevant product area.
• Creating Journey Maps to redefine agency processes around data use and reporting.
• Understanding trends affecting customer and end-user adoption.
• Developing results-oriented strategies to solve complex business problems.
• Conducting market analysis and product fitment for data-driven job matching.
• Managing customer engagements and requirements.
• Leading business pursuits and product demonstrations for decision-makers.

Qualifications

• More than 9 years of experience in senior positions across utilities, lottery agencies, labor, workforce development, commerce, or higher education.
• Experience at a decision-making level in a state or federal government agency.
• Experience with market-leading products in the public sector.
• Experience working with enterprise customers, both technical and business.
• Experience with legislative and rule-making processes.
• Strong business acumen with experience in estimation, pricing, market research, and public policy advocacy.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to modern technology.
• Strong analytical ability with exposure to data science and AI.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with industry-leading platforms and products.
• Expertise in public sector project management and delivery.
• PMP preferred.
• Advanced degree (JD, MPA, MBA) strongly preferred.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Consideration of three years of progressive, relevant work experience instead of every year of education.
• Preference for candidates who have completed a Master's degree program.
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate by telephone, email, or face-to-face.
• Travel may be required as per job requirements.
