Role Description
Majesco is seeking a Principal Business Analyst with deep knowledge of the Life Insurance domain for the North American Life & Annuity product line. As Principal Business Analyst, you will be responsible for setting the direction, standards and best practices for business analysis across the L&A product line, and for leading a team of Business Analysts / Principal BAs / Product Owners to deliver high‑quality, end‑to‑end solutions.

Own and drive the Business Analysis strategy for the L&A product line, aligning with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering and Delivery leadership on vision, roadmap and execution priorities.

Work closely with Product Management to translate the vision, strategy and high-level product roadmap into tangible, end‑to‑end User Acceptance Journeys and Test Cases from Policy to Claims that achieve the business goals of the product.

Lead and mentor a team of business consultants, business analysts and subject matter experts, ensuring that each journey is detailed with a strong focus on:

Business users and how they service their customers

Varying landscapes at each insurance carrier

Different operating models and regulatory environments

Collaborate with Implementation & Production customers to identify reasons for defect leakage and drive improvements in the overall Quality Assurance and requirements processes (including RCA, corrective and preventive actions).

Partner with the testing/QA teams to:

Ensure adequate test coverage for outlined requirements
-
Validate that patterns and variants of business scenarios are addressed
-
Ensure high‑quality, first‑time‑right delivery.

Act as a champion and senior spokesperson for the product, able to demonstrate, discuss and articulate features, functions and underlying rationale internally and externally (including executives and client stakeholders).

Collaborate with Product Owners to understand desired outcomes for each product release and translate them into end‑to‑end journeys, test cases and measurable success criteria.

Oversee and, where required, directly conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business requirements and deliver the intended customer and business value.

Provide leadership for issue analysis/triaging and resolution during test phases, and guide production issue resolution to ensure key Product SLAs are consistently met.

Support and guide project/program management, participating in and influencing project planning, risk/issue management, status reporting, and scope/change decisions.

Maintain and disseminate strong knowledge of life insurance policy administration systems, industry trends, and emerging technologies, and translate these into actionable recommendations for product and delivery teams.

Lead the requirements strategy for critical modules (e.g., policy administration, billing, claims), collaborating with business stakeholders, SMEs and IT teams to define scalable and reusable solutions.

Conduct or oversee thorough analysis of existing processes and systems to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement and optimization, and champion their implementation.

Present and highlight features in product demos to a wider audience/customers, representing the Business Analysis function and influencing adoption and satisfaction.

Play a key role in practice-building, including:

Defining and refining BA frameworks, templates, standards and governance.
-
Leading knowledge-sharing sessions, training and “train-the-trainer” initiatives.

Building and tracking BA KPIs/OKRs (e.g., requirement‑related defects, backlog health, sign‑off cycle times, UAT outcomes).
Qualifications

Strong business and technical acumen with the ability to translate product vision and strategy into a clear, executable product roadmap and corresponding business journeys and requirements.

Strong domain experience in Policy Administration Systems (PAS) and/or Claims for L&A and Group lines of business.

Strong eye for business process improvements and innovation, with the ability to challenge current state and propose pragmatic, scalable solutions.

Ideas and experience in enhancing productivity and efficiencies in performing various transactions from a system standpoint, including reusability and standardization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (or global equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Banking & Finance or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.

15+ years professional experience, including:
-
10+ years working in L&A and Group Insurance with software products/platforms.
-
Experience in insurance operations is an added advantage.
-
Blend of business and technical understanding of core, data and digital cloud‑based enterprise systems for L&A and Group insurance.

Well versed with the insurance technology vendor marketplace, key product and technology trends, as well as competitive advancements.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to present ideas and information in influential ways through storytelling, especially to senior stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to forge relationships and communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including C‑suite and senior client leadership.
-
Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams without formal authority, and to drive alignment across Product, Delivery, Architecture, Engineering and QA.

Highly analytical and data‑driven mindset to plan and track performance of roadmap execution and effectiveness of delivery and BA practice.

Ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines while paying close attention to details and quality.

Ability to leverage empowerment to explore beyond specific assignments to improve the overall value proposition of the product and the Business Analysis function.
Other Qualifications

Experience with SAFe Agile development practices and processes; SAFe certification (e.g., SAFe Practitioner, SAFe POPM) preferred.

Experience with Majesco platforms/products is a strong plus.
-
Preferred experience in configuration of Banking or Financial Services products.
-
Actuarial qualification will be preferred.
-
Extensive experience in creating complex Excel workbooks, writing macros, or working with programming languages is a plus.
